iPhone alarm failure stresses Apple customers

The start of 2011 has been a sleep-addled one for millions of iPhone users across the globe as a software fault has caused the smartphone’s alarm to fail repeatedly.
The issue has proved costly for many as missed appointments, flights and work have all added up, compounded by the fact that the iPhone is one of the best selling smartphones on the planet.
The emergence of the iPhone alarm issue, which is related to a flaw in the iOS platform, was made public via social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter where users vented their frustrations and the media quickly caught on.
Initially Apple issued a statement which claimed that only the first two days of 2011 would see the one-off alarms failing to work, with normal service resuming as of January 3rd. However, this was as spurious a claim as it sounds because users are still reporting that their iPhones are not getting them out of bed at the right time.
The way to avoid this issue is to set a recurring alarm which goes off every day, although if you have to get up at four in the morning once it might prove annoying when the alarm recurs if you fail to disable it.
In essence it looks as though owners of the iPhone 4 and anyone who has updated older iPhone to the latest iOS platform will have to wait until Apple comes out with a patch to remedy this alarm issue.
The launch of the iPhone 4 was plagued with controversy when claims of antenna issues caused many to think twice before investing, but sales have been strong. An alarm issue related to the changing of the clocks occurred in November 2010, according to Engadget, although it is still unclear as to whether these incidents are related.
