iOS 5 bug-fixing update delayed

While the iPhone 4's launch in 2010 was plagued by antenna issues, this year the iPhone 4S and the iOS 5 software platform which powers it have been criticised for noteworthy reductions in battery life and an incoming fix from Apple has, allegedly, been delayed.
If you sold your old mobile phone in order to cover the cost of getting the iPhone 4S on its release or held onto an iPhone 4 but updated it with the latest iOS software, you too may have been one of the people suffering from faster battery depletion as a result.
Apple had originally been expected to launch a fix this week, but now rumours suggest that this has actually been delayed, according to Phone Arena.
Of course iOS 5 has already had one update which Apple rushed out to remedy the situation but many are claiming that this actually made the battery life issues more prevalent and acute.
The delayed update would not only tinker with the battery life but also counteract problems experienced with storing document files on the iCloud service, amongst other things.
The reason behind the delay is cited as being a need for more in-depth testing of the software in order to make sure that it will work for all users across all regions.
Battery life expectations have been revised downwards ever since the first iPhone arrived on the scene back in 2007 and many people recharge their mobiles every evening, which puts scrutiny on the often lengthy usage times many manufacturers place on their product specifications.
The iPhone 4S is not the only smartphone which has been criticised for sapping battery life too quickly, with big screen alternatives like the HTC Sensation XL and other high powered devices also running into similar issues.
