ZTE creates entry level Windows Phone handset

The ZTE Tania has been turning heads since its launch this week, because it has built what could be one of the cheapest Window Phone models on the market.
Until now Microsoft has been setting minimum specifications for its developing mobile operating system, but it seems that ZTE is getting let off in at least one area, as the Tania will feature just 4GB of onboard storage space, rather than the mandatory 8GB.
Elsewhere, the ZTE Tania looks relatively promising, thanks to its 4.3 inch touchscreen display, capacitive buttons and five megapixel camera. ZTE has not announced any other hardware information about the Tania, other than the fact that it will be able to run as a Wi-Fi hotspot, turning its 3G connection into something other devices can share.
The processor speed remains a mystery, although it will have to be at least 1GHz or more in order to properly run Windows Phone 7.5, which comes preinstalled.
The Windows Phone platform has improved exponentially over the last few months thanks to some major updates arriving on the scene. This includes full integration for Twitter, alongside the already comprehensive Facebook-based features.
Gaming is still a key part of Windows Phone's appeal and Xbox Live users will be able to enjoy the same functions on the Tania, as they would expect from any other handset based on Microsoft's platform.
Of course, the Tania might have had a tough time marking itself out from the crowd were it not for its budget price, which is still unannounced, but should be one of the lowest seen for a Windows Phone mobile.
The ZTE Tania will be launching in the UK in a few months, so you will not have long to wait before you can sell your old mobile phone and upgrade.
