UK to miss out on eight core Galaxy S4

Samsung often varies the type of hardware found inside its flagship smartphones depending on which global region they are destined for, so it is perhaps unsurprising to learn that here in the UK, we will be receiving a version of the Galaxy S4 that does not match the specs promised at launch.
Instead of using the octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, British consumers will be able to pick up a quad core Galaxy S4 with a 1.9GHz clock speed.
This might seem like a bit of a disappointment, but the benefit of receiving this particular Galaxy S4 iteration is that it also boasts 4G compatibility, which is absent from its more powerful sibling.
Looking at the figures, the 1.9GHz clock speed of the UK's Galaxy S4 will still make it significantly speedier than the outgoing Galaxy S3. And with 4G connectivity onboard, it will be able to access the internet at blisteringly quick speeds, as long as there is coverage in your area.
The rollout of 4G in the UK has been gradual, but should really kick into gear by the summer, at which point network providers other than EE should be lining up to boast about their own next-gen services.
The Galaxy S4 is a smartphone that really deserves 4G, because its five inch, full HD display makes it the perfect multimedia hub and web browsing device.
If we had got the Galaxy S4 with its octo-core CPU but no 4G, it might initially have sounded like a good deal. But two years into a 24 month contract, by which point 4G will be prevalent, those who had secured a 3G-only Galaxy S4 might start to feel a little left behind.
In short, while the Galaxy S4 may have had to undergo some compromises to deliver 4G compatibility, it should be worth it in the long run.
