Trio of HTC smartphones appear in online images

Three smartphones from HTC have been showcased in a selection of rendered images online, refreshing interest in what the Taiwanese manufacturer has in store over the coming months.
At the moment, the HTC handset which is getting the most attention is the Incredible S, although with its single core CPU, it looks a little weedy when compared to the dual core chips sported by the likes of the Samsung Galaxy SII and the LG Optimus 3D.
The emergence of the images, which showcase the HTC Ignite, Prime and Pyramid handsets, remind consumers that the firm is indeed planning its own range of next-gen handsets, although they seem to be a little way from launch.
According to sources at Chinese tech site XDA.cn, the HTC Pyramid will be the next flagship Android smartphone for the firm, featuring a 4.3 inch display which has a resolution of 960x540, easily outpacing the displays of previous frontrunner, the Desire HD.
Along with a dual core processor, the Pyramid will reportedly have an eight megapixel camera, 768MB of RAM and the latest version of Android, although claims that it will run the tablet-specific version 3.0 seem unlikely, given that Google has been attempting to separate the platform into two distinct versions for smartphones and tablets.
The HTC Ignite and Prime are thought to be using Windows Phone 7 rather than Android and, interestingly, it has been suggested that the Ignite will circumvent Microsoft's calls for minimum specifications by using an 800MHz processor, rather than the required 1GHz base clock speed.
The HTC Prime will be similarly mid-range in its aspirations, sporting a slide-out QWERTY keypad and enabling consumers to choose a slightly cheaper alternative to the HTC 7 Pro, which also had a physical keypad and business-centric features.
