Specifics of Windows Phone 7 update confirmed

Microsoft looks to be very close to launching its first over the air update for all mobiles based on its Windows Phone 7 platform and it has recently announced precisely what will be included in the revised software.
Key among the improvements and a feature which has been called for by many, is the ability to copy and paste text or content using the touchscreen interface. This means you can pull quotes and other chunks of text from an email or web page and paste them into a text and vice versa.
Many had hoped that copy and paste would be a feature available on Windows Phone 7 handsets at launch, but Microsoft has taken far less time than Apple to add it to its flagship smartphones.
The other update features are a little more vague, although nonetheless interesting. Microsoft has tweaked the way in which the software uses a handset's RAM, in order to speed up the time it takes for games and apps to load up or resume after the lock screen has been enabled.
The Windows Marketplace has also been given a few improvements, with the search function no longer trawling through every item on the store but reacting to the context of the section which the user is currently browsing, which should save many from fruitless scrolling.
At the moment, Microsoft has not officially announced just when it will be bringing Windows Phone 7 users the update which they will be keen to install. It is likely that the Mobile World Congress event in February will be used as a launchpad for the update and Microsoft has been keen to point out that the software will be arriving soon, without actually committing to a firm release date for it.
