Sony Xperia Mint details exposed

A new Xperia handset from Sony, which is going by the name of the Mint, has been unveiled thanks to leaked photos acquired by Mobile Review.
Sony has been creating some compelling smartphones ever since it split its mobile division from Ericsson and the Xperia Mint looks to be a solid mid range handset, based on the images and specs which are being reported.
It will feature a dual core 1.5GHz processor, combined with a 4.3 inch touchscreen display that features a 720p HD native resolution. This puts it in roughly the same price and performance bracket as the Xperia S, although the Mint seems to have one major trick up its sleeve.
This comes in the form of a 13 megapixel camera, which will make it one of the best photography-oriented smartphones on the market to date.
An eight megapixel sensor has become the standard feature of smartphones at the moment, with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 4S both opting for this capture quality. However, the Xperia Mint will go above and beyond the norm, perhaps giving it access to a built-in audience at the same time.
Of course Nokia is lining up the Pureview 808 smartphone for launch, which with a 41 megapixel sensor will blow everything else out of the water. In spite of this, the Xperia Mint might be able to win fans because it will run Android 4.0, while Nokia's option will be stuck with an outdated, Symbian-based software package.
While the details revealed in the leak are not officially confirmed, they certainly seem to have come from legitimate sources. Whether or not the device will launch in the UK is a different issue, as it might struggle to stand out alongside the existing and largely similar Xperia S.
