Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray inbound for August 15th

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray might be available in the UK on the 15th of August, according to a revised release schedule published by retailer Play.com.
It will cost you around £350 to pick up the Xperia Ray if you want to get it without any network provider affiliation and this seems to be a relatively accurate price point for an Android smartphone from the upper regions of the market, in terms of hardware.
A very slim body and a 1GHz processor will make Android 2.3 feel right at home, while its eight megapixel camera will help it to outdo many of the other alternatives which tend to feature camera sensors of five megapixels or less.
A 3.3 inch touchscreen display means that the Xperia Ray is not the biggest mobile on the market, missing out on an inch of screen real estate when compared to the likes of the HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S2. However, it is also considerably cheaper than these range-topping phones and should be more than adequate for average users.
Network provider Three has committed to offering the Xperia Ray on contract upon its launch in the UK and others are expected to follow suit.
If you are planning to sell your old mobile phone in order to get the Xperia Ray SIM-free and devoid of any lengthy contract, then you will have a little over a month to wait until it is ready for purchase, if the latest estimates from within retailers are to be believed.
With exterior styling options available in different colours, from black to gold and pink, the Xperia Ray is definitely going to have youngsters clamouring to own it, so it might be a hot handset in Sony Ericsson's block busting range.
