September launch rumoured for iPhone 5

The next Apple iPhone is likely to miss the typical early summer launch window which has been consistent for the first four iterations of the device and instead launch in September this year.
This news has come from an anonymous source alleged to be from within Apple who was quoted by Reuters as identifying that the iPhone 5 will begin to roll off the production line in July ahead of a release date which is likely to be in September.
The source said that the iPhone 5 will not be vastly different in terms of looks from the iPhone 4, although a faster processor is expected to be part of the updated internal hardware, which is something many other rumours support.
Now it is thought that the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, which Apple usually harnesses as a launch pad for each new iPhone, will be more about the software side of its business.
A September release for the iPhone 5 would push it into the month during which Apple is usually busy promoting the latest version of the iPod.
There are various pieces of information and speculation flying around with regards to why the iPhone 5 is being delayed beyond the normal launch window, with a shortage of hardware being seen as the key driving component behind its late arrival.
The lack of any official word from Apple does mean that nothing is set in stone, but with so many similar rumours being bandied about it would be foolish to ignore the thrust of them completely.
The good news for anyone who is looking to sell their old iPhone in order to bag the new one is that any delay will help to prop up the price offered by recycling firms for a few months.
