Samsung Announces Galaxy Chat Smartphone

While Samsung has been making headlines with its range-topping Galaxy S3 smartphone, it seems that the South Korean manufacturer is still intent on tackling other areas of the market, having released details of its forthcoming Galaxy Chat handset earlier this month.
The Galaxy Chat will feature a full QWERTY keypad along with a three-inch touchscreen display, allowing it to offer impressive text input speed and accuracy while still featuring an intuitive, tactile interface.
As its name suggests, the Galaxy Chat will be focused on delivering impressive performance for those who love instant messaging and e-mail, with the ChatOn service built into the software of the phone.
The good news is that the Galaxy Chat will run Android 4.0 right out of the box, which is an unusual feature on what is ostensibly a budget-oriented smartphone.
Samsung has endowed the phone with its custom TouchWiz user interface, which means users will be able to navigate fully personalised homescreens and enjoy a generally attractive augmentation of the Android experience.
The Galaxy Chat is not quite as strong in the photography department, however, as its two-megapixel camera will look a little lacking when compared to rival devices that feature the now standard five-megapixel sensor resolution.
Samsung is not beating about the bush with the Galaxy Chat. The South Korean firm will make the device available to consumers across Europe before the end of the month, with an international roll-out planned later in the summer.
While the initial iteration of the Galaxy Chat will feature 3G connectivity and Wi-Fi, Samsung is apparently planning to debut a 4G LTE-enabled version soon. This is not going to be of any immediate use to people in the UK; although, this week it did emerge that O2 is looking to launch its first LTE service in Britain by the summer of 2013.
