Rumours of Google Nexus Two surface
Wednesday, November 3, 2010 - 13:49:34
Industry murmurings suggest that Google could be planning to launch a Nexus Two smartphone despite the fact that executives had originally dismissed the idea of a follow up to the Nexus One.
Because there is very little actual evidence to suggest that the Nexus Two exists and this industry deals with speculation at all times, it is necessary to take the current rumours with a pinch of salt, but some are more compelling than others.
It is known that South Korean mobile manufacturer and long time Android supporter Samsung is planning to debut a brand new smartphone on November 8th, although this is set to be a US launch and is seen as being a handset that will not make it to the UK.
Various online gadget sites, including Gizmodo, have now said that the Samsung smartphone in question could be the Galaxy S2, which might have a 1.2GHz processor onboard along with version 2.3 or 3.0 of Android.
Like the original Galaxy S, a five megapixel camera with 720p video capture will feature in this rumoured handset, along with the same four inch Super AMOLED display.
Despite Google's previous protestations to the contrary there is still a significant amount of support for the idea that this handset will be touching down under the branding of the Nexus Two. This would imply that none of Samsung's custom software would be integrated with Android, giving a plain vanilla experience of the latest version of this open-source operating system.
There are as many sceptics as there are convinced speculators in relation to this story and, although the Nexus Two may simply be a myth, the fact that Samsung is planning to launch a brand new Android smartphone in the near future can only be cause for excitement among mobile fans.
