Recycling your phone to save for the iPhone 6

Apple's latest iPhone handsets were unveiled this week and if you are thinking of snapping one up then you will either need to fork out for an expensive pay monthly contract or find at least £550 to buy it up front.
Whichever route you take, this will result in an expensive commitment of cash, as well as leaving you with an old handset that needs to be disposed of sensibly. So recycling your old phone is the best idea, since you can get good money for any unwanted device, no matter its age or condition.
Of course, with lots of different companies hoping to snap up your smartphone, it makes even more sense to shop around and compare the quotes that are offered for your old devices. Also be aware that a pristine phone will be worth more than one which has seen a lot of wear and tear, or one which is actually broken.
Since an estimated 11 million people use iPhones in the UK, according to the Telegraph, the group looking to upgrade to the new models will be quite large. And, luckily, Apple’s handsets manage to maintain their value to a greater degree than their rivals.
Even a four year old iPhone 4 is still worth between £50 and £100 to a recycling firm, while a newer iPhone 5 or 5S will be worth several hundred pounds, which makes that high up front cost easier to bear in the long term.
Make sure that you choose a reputable recycler and that you select a means of payment which is convenient, because you will want to receive the money to help cover the cost of your iPhone 6, without having to jump through any hoops or worry about when the cash will arrive.
