Recycling workers retrieve accidentally discarded iPhone 4

An iPhone 4 was pulled from several tonnes of recycling waste after an over-eager owner accidentally threw it into their wheelie bin outside their house, according to a report in The Mirror newspaper.
The phone was inadvertently sent off to a local recycling centre by a 37 year old mother who lives in Hampshire and once the mistake was realised, the local authority was quickly contacted in order to see if it was possible to find the expensive smartphone in among the other unwanted detritus.
It took workers from Veolia Environmental Services a total of two working days to stumble across the iPhone 4, which was buried in among seven tonnes of other recycling.
The mother of six said that she was particularly upset about losing the iPhone not just because of its £500 price tag, but also because she had captured many pictures of her kids using its five megapixel camera over the festive period and that these would be irreplaceable.
The iPhone 4 had only been bought two months before it was accidentally trashed and thankfully, upon its return to the owner, it has been found to have sustained no substantial damage, which is very lucky considering what had happened.
The family who were reunited with the precious mobile were so pleased with the work of the local recycling operators that they donated £50 to the team so that they could get a couple of rounds in at the pub by way of thanks.
Veolia spokesperson, Darren Carling, said that the workers were pleased to be able to rescue the iPhone 4 from the recycling and get it back to its rightful owner, making reparations for all the stress that it had caused during the few days that it was missing.
