Nokia expands Symbian 3 smartphone offering with C6

Another Nokia handset running the new Symbian 3 platform has hit the market this week. The mobile in question is the C6 and it accompanies the N8 and C7 in being among the first of what looks to be an ongoing barrage of high end Symbian mobiles.
Its recommended SIM-free retail price of £279 puts it in close competition with the C7 and not a huge amount less than the N8, although it is likely to arrive on reduced price pay monthly contracts which could make it all the more popular.
The C6 shares the same eight megapixel camera as the C7 and like all of the Symbian 3 handsets to date, it supports HD video capture at a resolution of 720p. Its 3.2 inch touchscreen display is a little smaller than its siblings but it has a premium build quality which makes many of the more plasticy mobiles running Android look a little shabby by comparison.
Nokia has tweaked the Symbian platform, giving users three customisable homescreens and a wealth of useful features like turn-by-turn navigation in Ovi Maps and plenty of apps to choose from on the Ovi Store.
A spokesperson for Nokia UK said that social networking, digital photography and media playback would be the three key features of the C6, making it a stand out handset in this price bracket. They also pointed to the stylish design of the mobile as key to its appeal.
Although Nokia has not been faring as well in recent times as it has in the past, it still has millions of loyal fans around the world and those who want to recycle their old mobiles in favour of this fresh new smartphone, look like they will not miss out as a result of their continued support for the Finnish firm.
