New Nexus devices expected from Google

For the past few weeks more and more information about the LG Nexus 4 smartphone has been emerging, with Google likely to launch the handset early next week at a press event.
However, while new leaks have revealed official images of the device, one insider has suggested that Google has an even bigger revelation up its sleeve.
TechRadar reports that Google is going to be making its Nexus brand available to all manufacturers who want to build Android handsets, not just one partner at a time, when a new flagship device is being prepared.
The Nexus range stretches back to the Nexus One, which was built by HTC and launched in 2010. Since then, both Samsung and Asus have also produced Nexus-branded devices, although each iteration has required careful collaboration with Google.
To make it easier for other manufacturers to create Nexus smartphones, Google is now going to release a set of minimum system requirements, which will afford companies this opportunity. It is assumed that manufacturers will also be obliged to use Android in an unaltered form, if they want to achieve Nexus certification for their handsets.
In the meantime, consumers will have to make do with the LG Nexus 4. This high end device will feature a 1.5GHz quad core processor, a 4.7 inch high-def display and a 13 megapixel camera, giving it all the power it needs to compete with its closest rivals.
Android 4.2 will bring the Nexus 4 to life and should remind buyers of the other benefit of the Nexus brand, which is that you can usually get software updates before anyone else.
With more Nexus devices on the horizon, Google might finally be addressing the problems with fragmentation that have hounded the Android platform for several years, creating a more cohesive ecosystem of devices and software.
