Motorola Milestone 2 sold online in UK

Motorola has launched the Milestone 2 smartphone in the UK, bringing high end Android 2.2 features for anyone who does not want to opt for rival handsets.
Oddly, it seems that Motorola is not convinced that the Milestone 2 would make an impact as a network subsidised smartphone and so it is going to sell it for around £380 via online retailers as a SIM free offering. This is the same route it chose with the original Milestone which, despite positive reviews, never found favour with a mainstream audience.
The Milestone 2 looks fairly similar to its predecessor on the outside but it is underneath where major changes have been made. A 1GHz processor powers Google's latest operation system, which means you can get full Flash support in the native web browser for playing videos.
The 3.7 inch touchscreen display is back from last year's model, as is the full QWERTY keypad hidden by the slider design. Motorola has implemented its own MotoBlue software on top of Android 2.2, so social networking will be integral to the experience, although there are some who deem this extra software to be unwieldy and ultimately superfluous, so it is down to personal preference.
What seems strange about Motorola's approach to the UK market with the Milestone range, is that this handset could be very well positioned to appeal to mid range buyers, thanks to its price, but the firm has failed to catch the eye of network providers over here, which means the Milestone 2 might vanish without a trace.
The Milestone 2 will definitely have the wow factor when it comes to looks because it will be very different from the HTC Desires and iPhones that pack many friendship groups. Obscurity does come at a price as, when you sell it, it will not hold its value as well as better known handsets.
