Mobile recycling to help Highland community

A new campaign being run in the Badenoch & Strathspey area of the Scottish Highlands is seeking to encourage people to recycle their old mobile phones in order to help a charitable cause.
Known as an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), the Fones4Life campaign will be buying these items as a result of the money which is being raised through mobile phone recycling.
A number of phone recycling bins are being placed at key locations in the region so that locals who have old phones that they no longer need can disposed of them in a sustainable way and also do their bit for charity.
Just 420 phones are required to cover the cost of one AED machine, according to the Strathspey & Badenoch Herald, which means that there is an opportunity for many more to be funded as a result of mobile phone recycling.
Whatever part of the country you are in it is possible to use mobile phone recycling to make a difference for a variety of charities.
Some schemes will collect the phone from you directly, while recyclers may give you the opportunity to pay the value of your phone direct to charity. You can always sell your old phone and then put the cash you receive towards whichever cause you support to do your bit.
