Mobile recycling to help Brighton's homeless

Christmas is a time for giving, not only to the people you know and love, but also to charities, so that those who are in particular need of support during the harshest period of the year can get the help they require.
The Brighton Housing Trust, which helps homeless people find places to stay overnight, is harnessing the power of mobile recycling to raise thousands of pounds this festive season, according to The Argus.
So far, it has raised £6,500 but it is hoping that a big push in the last few days before December 25th will allow it to reach the £10,000 target sum which it set out at the start of the initiative.
Fundraising manager, Jo Berry, said that mobile phone recycling was a great way to get people to donate to charity, because it is convenient, quick and attractive to a large proportion of the population who have an old handset lying around, unused, at home.
Berry also pointed out that many people would be getting a brand new mobile phone on Christmas Day and so could part ways with their current phone just before it is made obsolete.
Anyone can donate to this cause and a prepaid envelope will be sent to you so that there is absolutely no cost to shoulder.
Of course people who choose to sell their old phone online can often pick the option to have the value of their used handset donated to charity, rather than paid back to them.
This not only helps you clear out cupboard space and do your bit for the environment, but also get some altruistic pleasure from responsibly disposing of your unwanted gadgets which might, otherwise, go to waste. Why not do something great this Christmas and recycle your old phone for charity?
