Mobile phone recycling to help troubled Premier League side

Portsmouth FC, otherwise known as Pompey to its fans, has been experiencing financial problems for some time. Now the club is appealing to any of its supporters to help it get back on the right track, by donating any old, unwanted mobile phones, so that it can raise some much-needed cash.
While it was revealed earlier this month that the club is £58 million in debt, which is an amount that is unlikely to be recouped simply by recycling mobile phones, those in charge are hoping that any kind of donation will make a difference.
ForgottenMobile.com was participating in a major collection event over the weekend, during the match between Portsmouth and Derby County.
It was there to collect any unwanted mobile phones in order to convert them into funds that will eventually help this much loved institution.
Collection points were set up around the stadium and there was plenty of publicity beforehand, although at the time of writing, it is not known just how many handsets were collected or how much cash is hoped to have been raised.
ForgottenMobile.com is a phone recycling service which works mostly with charitable organisations and educational institutes which want to use a modern fundraising technique to pick up some extra money.
Because the fans will not have to donate any hard cash but will, instead, be parting ways with mobiles they were more than likely storing at home or preparing to send to landfill, this type of option will appeal to a wide audience.
Spokesperson, Brendan Bennett, said that his company was pleased to be helping Portsmouth FC in its time of need. He also said that the simplicity of the recycling scheme would make it easy for fans to support the team in its darkest hour.
