Mobile phone recycling donation plea

A Newmarket woman is attempting to collect old, unwanted mobile phones to help fund the provision of technology that will help her autistic daughter to learn and develop, in ways that are not currently available to her.
At least 185 old mobile phones are needed by Emma Carter, so that she can pass them on to a dedicated autism charity and, in exchange, receive an iPad which will enable her daughter to gain communication skills.
Hearts and Minds operates a mobile phone recycling scheme so that individual campaigners can run donation campaigns and receive vital equipment in return, according to the Newmarket Journal.
At the moment, Ms Carter has to provide full time care for her daughter, who cannot speak or even give any indication of what she wants and needs at a given time. With the tablet computer, it will finally be made easier for her to engage.
Ms Carter is hoping to collect the old mobile phones she needs by heading out into her local community and, given that millions of Brits keep unwanted handsets long after they have upgraded, it is likely that she will be successful.
Hearts and Minds has already provided 85 families that are affected by autism with iPads and other devices, as part of a wider mobile phone recycling campaign. The end goal is to aid at least 1,000 households across the country.
The only requirements for the recycling scheme are that the mobile cannot be older than a decade and must still have a battery. As long as a handset fits the bill, even if it is not actually functional, the charity will accept it.
Anyone looking to help out the Hearts and Minds scheme can visit the charity's website. You can also sell your old mobile phone online for cash and then donate this as you see fit.
