Minimum specs of Android 3.0 hinted

Industry murmurings predict that Google will be imposing a set of minimum specifications for Android 3.0, which means it is possible to take a fairly accurate guess at the kinds of capabilities that will appear on the next generation of Android-based tablets.
According to Phandroid, a Korean manufacturer has come clean about the vital statistics required to run Android 3.0, which include a dual-core processor and a display that can support a minimum resolution of 1280x720, otherwise known as 720p HD.
This level of technology would be great and we already know that the LG Optimus 2X is bringing dual-core processing to the mobile market in the coming months, but there are concerns about the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab being frozen out by these lofty requirements.
Google might be addressing this problem by releasing Android 3.0 in two distinct styles, one designed for high end dual core tablets and smartphones, while the other is slimmed down and suited to the budget tablets which are already on the market.
The one issue which this would intensify is the fragmented nature of the Android platform, which is already housed in different variations on many mobile phones and other devices, making it difficult for a user to pick up a gadget based on Google's software and be assured of getting the same experience as the person next to them.
Expect further details on Android 3.0 and the devices which will support it to emerge this week as the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) completes its run.
In other Android news, Google has officially prioritised the creation of a remedy to a software bug which means some mobile users are sending texts to the wrong contacts. Expect to see a fix for this issue in the coming weeks.
