HTC launches next-gen handsets

The HTC One X and One S made their first appearance in the UK this week, with a high profile ad campaign helping to promote these new class-leading Android 4.0 smartphones.
The One X is HTC's flagship model for the first half of 2012 and is typically well equipped, packing in a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, to help it blow away last year's dual core competition.
It also features a 4.7 inch touchscreen display with a native 1280x720 high-def resolution, which means it goes head to head with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus when it comes to pixel count, but is beaten by the smaller Sony Xperia S, when it comes to density and detail.
HTC is putting a lot of emphasis on the inclusion of an eight megapixel camera on the One X, which can record 1080p HD video, as well as shooting panoramic still images and harnessing HDR technology.
The HTC One S is the more affordable of the two phones, although it is by no means a middle of the road effort.
It packs in a dual core 1.5GHz processor, 16GB of storage and its very own eight megapixel camera, which can match the One X when it comes to performance.
You also get a 4.3 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 540x960. This means that it will be able to deliver great contrast and colour performance, while also making the handset more portable than the One X.
Both models feature Android 4.0 along with the Sense 4.0 interface, as built in-house by HTC, so expect to be swiping between homescreens and enjoying intuitive widgets which are optimised for Google's new platform.
Based on early reviews, it seems that the One S might be a better option than the One X because the difference in processing power is negligible for the time being, with the dual core One S actually offering desirable battery performance.
