HTC and LG reveal pricings for new smartphones

The LG Optimus 3D and HTC Desire S have both been giving SIM-free prices ahead of their UK launches.
The Optimus 3D will be hitting the market at a price of £515 if you want to buy it outright, while the Desire S will be slightly cheaper at £420.
The Desire S will be launched a few days earlier than the Optimus 3D, with current reports suggesting that it will be with us by April 18th, while the LG handset arrives on April 25th.
The Optimus 3D and Desire S are similar in some ways, with both running Android. However, while the HTC handset is essentially a revision of a 2010 favourite, the LG alternative is right on the cutting edge of the market.
With a glasses-free 3D display, a dual-core processor and dual five megapixel cameras for 3D video and photo snapping, LG has the upper hand when it comes to specifications. This also makes its £515 price point seem very attractive indeed, particularly as it has an HDMI output, which will allow you to enjoy 3D content on a compatible TV.
The Desire S will trump the LG Optimus 3D when it comes to software, as it will run Android 2.4, rather than the 2.2 which is present on its rival. Elsewhere it is less impressive, with a single-core 1GHz processor looking a little archaic against a modern dual-core handset.
There is no doubt that the LG Optimus 3D will be more of a niche product than the Desire S, if only because few people have 3D TVs to enjoy the content it can capture. The fact that it exists at all is a testament to the ingenuity of mobile manufacturers and their continual attempts to push new technical boundaries.
