HTC Sensation officially announced

The HTC Sensation has been revealed at a launch event, with its Taiwanese manufacturer giving away all of the juicy details about this high end smartphone.
Like the HTC Desire HD it will use a 4.3 inch display but unlike its predecessor it will have a high qHD resolution of 960x540, which should make it much crisper and cleaner whether you are browsing the web, using the menus or watching media content.
The larger display is coupled with a dual core processor which will indeed use the 1.2GHz Qualcomm chip which had been the subject of rumours in recent days. This will mean that there is a bit more power under the hood of the HTC Sensation, when compared with the likes of the LG Optimus 2X, which only has a 1GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra chipset.
Like the Optimus 2X, the Sensation will be able to record HD video in full HD 1080p using its eight megapixel camera and there will also be a mini HDMI connection to let you view your movies in all their glory on your TV.
The HTC Sensation will run Android 2.3.3 and the Sense interface which is plonked on top has been given some visual work, with 3D animations worked into homescreen switching and an advanced lock screen, which will come complete with quicklaunch apps that can be booted as soon as you slide it up.
Despite its large display and powerful hardware, the HTC Sensation is set to be a little more pocket-friendly than those mammoth phones which have come before it. The unibody design is in keeping with HTC's other mobiles and at 148 grams, it is not the lightest handset around, but should be enough to inspire confidence with its solidity and pleasing quality of finish.
