HTC Flyer headed for April launch in UK

UK consumers will be able to get their hands on the HTC Flyer device from next month and pre-orders have already begun, so anyone who wants to sign up for the smartphone/tablet hybrid online will be able to do so.
Electronics retailer Clove has begun the pre-order race and states that the HTC Flyer will be available at some point in the middle of April.
The Flyer is going to cost around £600 if you want to go for the 3G version, which offers wide ranging connectivity, while the Wi-Fi only model could be up to £150 cheaper for those who prefer to carry out their tablet activities in the comfort of their home or office.
It is worth bearing in mind that HTC has not officially confirmed any of this information, but retailers are usually relatively accurate in their predictions of when new devices will arrive.
The HTC Flyer is based on Android 3.0 and features a seven inch touchscreen display which actually includes stylus compatibility. This is likely to make it a favourite of creative types, who want to get direct control over their onscreen interactions.
The Flyer is a little smaller than many of its rivals and the use of the HTC Sense interface on top of Android makes it look much more like an oversized smartphone than the Motorola Xoom or Apple iPad 2. However, in terms of weight and portability, it is likely to outclass its heftier rivals and be easier to slip into a pocket rather than lug around in a bag.
Some observers have yet to be convinced that Android tablets like the HTC Flyer will be able to make an impact on a market which is currently dominated by Apple. Of course the smartphone market has been opened up wide by Android, but with the relatively expensive asking price of these devices, nothing is set in stone.
