HTC Explorer hits UK

HTC has launched its latest entry level smartphone in the UK and the Explorer looks set to provide consumers with a compelling reason to sell their old mobile phone and invest in this appealing upgrade.
The HTC Explorer is designed to keep the cost of ownership down and will be selling at around £130, SIM free, although it will also be available on pay monthly contracts.
With a 600MHz processor and a 3.2 inch touchscreen display, it is not the most technically advanced smartphone on the market, but these specifications are more than enough to make the most of the Android 2.3 operating system, which is installed on the Explorer.
A three megapixel camera, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS and all the required smartphone trimmings can be found onboard the HTC Explorer, which shows just how far mobile technology has come.
HTC announced another new smartphone last week called the Rezound. This will be at the high end of the market and will feature Beats audio technology, making it a must-have for music lovers.
A dual core 1.5GHz processor and 4.3 inch display will make it difficult to distinguish from the HTC Sensation on a technical side, except that the native resolution of the screen has been upped to 1280x720, to compete with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
The HTC Rezound is unlikely to be released in the UK in its current form because it has 4G networking built in, making it a prime candidate for the US market.
Hopefully, the continued efforts by manufacturers like HTC to create 4G phones will speed up work to roll out a compatible network infrastructure by UK network providers.
Of course if you do want Beats audio on a smartphone in the meantime, you can buy either the HTC Sensation XL or XE editions.
