Google Nexus S to be offered with white shell

Google is set to ship an alternative to the all-black Nexus S smartphone in the coming weeks, as an image showing a white version of the handset has emerged online.
The Nexus S is only going white on the rear, with the battery cover and power button getting a crisp new finish, while the black bezel on the front which surrounds its four inch Super AMOLED display will remain as it is on the existing version.
The images were published on the BestBoyZ site and it comes at around the same time that rumours of a silver Nexus S have emerged, with the potential target being the European market, which bodes well for UK consumers.
Other news relating to the Nexus S has emerged this week, as it looks like Apple will be joining Google in installing Near Field Communication (NFC) chips into the next generation iPhone handsets, expected to launch later in the year.
The iPhone 5 may be the equivalent of the Nexus S when it comes to making contactless payments in the real world, according to an analyst quoted by Bloomberg.
The iPhone 5 is still many months away from being launched but a good indication as to whether it will get NFC connectivity will be given by the arrival of the iPad 2, which is expected in the spring. If NFC is present in the iPad 2's vital statistics, then it would be odd to see it missing from the iPhone 5.
This could be one instance in which the ubiquity of Apple's smartphones will actually help out people who choose to invest in the Nexus S, because with the mainstream audience having access to NFC via the iPhone 5, the number of places where you can use this tech will explode, making the Nexus S much more versatile in this area.
