Galaxy S4 rumoured for March 15 launch event
Friday, February 8, 2013 - 11:17:40
The 15th of March could be the day on which Samsung pulls back the curtains on its next flagship handset, the Galaxy S4.
This is according to a source quoted by news site, SamMobile, which is apparently endowed with insider knowledge concerning the launch event next month.
Of course the company itself is keeping quiet about its plans for the time being, which means speculation will continue to swirl around what will almost certainly be one of the biggest selling devices of 2013.
Hardware nuts will be pleased to hear that Samsung is going to pull out all the stops to make the S4 as technologically advanced as possible.
Current murmurings suggest that it will use a Super AMOLED display that measures a hair under five inches across the diagonal.
This panel will pack a full HD 1080p resolution, which is considerably higher than the 720p pixel count found on last year's Galaxy S3.
The jury is still out on whether or not Samsung will use a quad core processor for the S4, or if it might bite the bullet and go for an eight core chip built in-house.
Whether or not you need all of this power is somewhat academic, because Samsung uses its flagship smartphones as a proof of its prowess, pushing the specifications envelope, irrespective of how users will harness this number crunching might.
The Galaxy S4 should come with a 13 megapixel camera on the rear and a two megapixel snapper up front, both of which can shoot high def footage. Meanwhile, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean will be the star of the show, with Samsung's own interface making it feel unique.
We are only weeks away from the March 15th launch date, so those who want to sell their old Galaxy S3 to help cover the cost of an S4 upgrade, might want to start comparing prices.
