Galaxy S4 Mini hitting the UK on June 29th

Samsung is going to be selling the Galaxy S4 Mini in the UK from Saturday, according to online retailer, Unlocked Mobiles.
This is the official release date for the scaled-back alternative to the full sized Galaxy S4 and it will have a suitably compressed price tag of around £365.
The Galaxy S4 Mini may be designed as an affordable alternative to its flagship sibling, but it is still a well equipped smartphone.
It will come with a 1.7GHz dual core processor, one and a half gigabytes of RAM, a 4.3 inch AMOLED screen and an eight megapixel camera.
TechRadar points out that some retailers are putting the price of the Galaxy S4 Mini at over 400, at which point it does lose some of its value-oriented sheen. But if it is sold as part of a subsidised network contract then users will not be as perturbed.
Samsung is not the only manufacturer getting ready for the launch of a mini version of a class-leading phone.
HTC is thought to be working on the One Mini, which will match the Galaxy S4 Mini in terms of display area but trump it with a higher resolution.
All eyes are also on Apple, as fans eagerly await to see whether the rumours are true and it really is going to release the iPhone Mini in 2013.
The iPhone Mini will apparently be powered by similar hardware to the iPhone 4S and will be an affordable alternative to Apple's next-generation, high end iPhone.
Price will play a significant part in determining the success of these phones, because marketing them as being cheaper than their big-hitting siblings and then failing to make a particularly meaningful difference between the cost to consumer, could be a recipe for apathy.
