Facebook dominates mobile web usage

Social networking titan Facebook has once more captured a majority of the mobile market when it comes to data usage, with more people heading to the site than anywhere else when they take their smartphones out and about.
If you do not have a mobile which can access Facebook while on the move then you might want to sell your old phone and join the 74 per cent of social networkers in the UK who love the experience they get on their handsets and regularly sign in to see what friends are doing.
A majority of modern smartphones have integrated support for Facebook, with bespoke apps sitting alongside browser-based interactions. iPhone and iPad users are some of the most prolific Facebookers, according to a YouGov poll, but almost any smartphone should provide a comparable experience.
HTC has been the most fervent supporter of Facebook, particularly with the release of its ChaCha and Salsa smartphones. Based on Android, aimed at the affordable end of the market and equipped with some of the deepest Facebook integration around, this pair of price-conscious portable phones are a good choice if you want to sell your old mobile and get involved in the Facebook revolution.
The flipside to the recent revelations about mobile usage and Facebook is that many people are honest about the excessive amounts of time they spend updating their status or reading the news feed when they should be getting on with other things, like school or work.
Twenty seven per cent of people questioned in the YouGov survey said that they should really reduce the regularity of their Facebook visits, although of course by having Facebook readily accessible in your pocket via your mobile may not make things much easier, particularly if you are susceptible to its more addictive features.
