Cancer research funded by recycled mobile phones

The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) has spoken out about the benefits of recycling your old mobile phone in order to help out charities in their fundraising efforts.
The WCRF is one of the largest groups which researches cancer in all its forms, but its work also involves educating people about the disease and trying to promote understanding in the UK and further afield.
In the first few weeks of the new year you could be in a great position to sell your old mobile phone because, if you upgraded over the holidays, you could pass on your defunct handset and recoup some cash which you can keep yourself or donate to a charitable cause of your choice.
The longer you wait to recycle your old phone the less it will be worth, as values go down over time, but there are plenty of online outlets that will let you send off your handset for a healthy reward.
Of course charities like the WCRF will also accept donations of unwanted mobile phones directly and spokesperson for the group, Teresa Nightingale, explained that it is easy to fund prevention work if people send in their old handsets.
She said that the charity commits a lot of time and money to the task of finding links between different types of cancer and certain lifestyles, which can help people identify issues before they take root.
There is certainly a big push by many charities and organisations to get more people selling their old mobile phones in order to donate the proceeds to a good cause.
The good news is that virtually any mobile, regardless of its age, can be sold or donated. Even if you find out that your particular model is not worth much, every little bit of money which can go to charity will be beneficial, so recycling your mobile is always an option.
