Budget oriented Nokia Lumia 610 released in UK

People who want to jump on the Windows Phone band wagon, but avoid a costly monthly contract, will be pleased to hear that Nokia's modestly priced Lumia 610 has finally been made available to purchase in the UK.
The Lumia 610 is the first Windows Phone handset to really test the limits of Microsoft's promise to make Windows Phone more scalable and thus available on phones with cheaper hardware onboard.
As such, it comes with an 800MHz processor rather than the previously obligatory 1GHz chip, a 256MB allocation of RAM and a 3.7 inch touchscreen display, with a native resolution of 800x400.
Around the back is a five megapixel camera which does manage to keep pace with minimum system requirements for Windows Phone. However, this time you get the Tango iteration of Microsoft's platform onboard, which has been tailored to fit models which might not have the processing poke of their more expensive siblings.
High speed network connectivity comes in the form of Wi-Fi and 3G, with Wi-Fi tethering included so that you can share your data connection with other devices and make the most out of your monthly allowance.
The cheapest contract with a Lumia 610 included free of charge starts at £15 a month, although it could well become even cheaper once providers stat to get competitive and a little haggling is done by the user.
The Lumia 610 will also be sold SIM free, although at the time of writing, the upfront cost remains ambiguous, with between £165 and over £220 being charged by online retailers.
The Windows Phone platform is going to be a particularly good choice for those at the bottom end of the market because it offers a greater deal of consistency in terms of performance, when compared with rival entry level Android handsets.
