BlackBerry Kopi rumoured

BlackBerry may have promised to move away from the consumer mobile market, but it is still a big brand name and would be foolish to completely cut off its non-business fans.
To this end it makes sense that it is thought to be working on a bargain basement handset codenamed the Kopi, which has appeared in snaps procured by BGR this week.
Like the existing Q10 and Q5 handsets, this BlackBerry will feature a full QWERTY keypad and could even pack a faster processor. However, it will leave out 4G connectivity, which will help keep the price low but limit its connection speed.
With the BB 10.2 operating system reported to be onboard the Kopi, there should be no lack of functionality. The combination of a physical keypad with the touchscreen interface will be welcomed by traditional BlackBerry fans and newcomers alike.
A sibling to the Kopi, known colloquially as the Americano, was also the subject of leaks this week, appearing to show a similar design and hardware specification to the Z10, but in a cheaper-looking chassis. If they are part of BlackBerry's alleged C-Series, then it might also lack 4G.
BlackBerry agreed a sales deal with a Canadian buyer, which should go through by early November if there are no hiccups or counter-offers. With new owners on the way as well as new handsets, it is in a good position to turn its fortunes around and become the profitable powerhouse it once was, at least in theory.
Consumers remain unconvinced by the BB 10 operating system, perhaps realising that it lacks the same level of app support as better established rivals, including Android and iOS. Apps are the lifeblood of modern mobile solutions and without them, there is little reason to spend your cash on a handset.
