Apple's iPhone recycling programme bound for UK launch

Industry insiders believe that Apple is getting ready to transfer its Reuse and Recycle programme from the US to the UK, in a move that will allow British mobile owners to sell their old phone in-store when they upgrade to a new model from this manufacturer.
9to5Mac reports that while the scheme used to be limited only to America, Apple is broadening its reach and will be helping those in the UK to recoup some of the value of their old phone.
A variety of factors will impact the amount of money which Apple will pay for your old phone, with the condition of the handset being particularly important.
Observers have also pointed out that Apple's recycling valuations are generally a bit below what you could receive from a third party provider, so you might not get as much money for your old phone if you take it to an Apple Store.
However, the strength of Apple's brand and the fact that many Brits may not be aware of the availability of other services when they head to get an upgrade, might help to counteract this.
So far, there has been no official statement from Apple about its intentions to bring the Reuse and Recycle programme across the pond to the UK, but there should be few practical limitations in doing so and it could make a bit of money in the process, while also encouraging people to upgrade to a new device.
Anyone who wants to sell their old mobile phone should first compare prices online, to ensure that they are getting the best deal. There may be other things which influence your decision to sell to a particular provider, so keep an open mind about the potential of Apple's service.
